How to see scan results

Android You can see all your messages under ‘Verified messages’ tab. If you’re set up as a ‘Trusted contact’, you’ll see ‘Protected’ tab on top of the screen. Automatically scanned messages are marked as ‘Filtered’. Manually uploaded messages are marked as ‘Verified’.

Apple Manually uploaded messages are under the ‘Verified messages’ tab. Automatically scanned messages will go to your ‘Spam folder’. You’ll see which messages have been filtered when you click on the message.

What the warning rating means Please note: if a message has a low rating, it doesn’t mean it’s safe. You need to use your own judgment before doing anything. Check a message is real by contacting the sender on a number you trust, like one on their website.

Low to high warning When a message has a low rating, it means there are some scam warning signs. The more warning signs, the higher the rating.

How do I control which messages are scanned?

Go to Setting and General section , click on Monitoring sensitivity. and choose an option that suis you best. Please note, that just because the message did not get flagged, it doesn’t mean it is safe. Always use caution when responding to messages you did expect and verify the sender via their official route

Could the app flag a genuine message? Scam Ranger works on limited information, like a message you send. It may flag genuine messages or miss scam messages. So, always use your own judgment. Scammers send messages pretending to be real people and companies like your bank. And these can look like the real thing.

What if the app doesn’t spot a scam? Scam Ranger is a tool to help you understand and avoid potential scams. Sometimes, it may not be able to spot any warning signs. Where to find scam advice Every message that’s scanned will give you a link to how a scam works and what you should do to avoid it. It will also give you a link to other scam types. You can also find them in the ‘Learning lab’ along with safety tips and tasks to build your skills. Turn on notifications to get daily tips and new content alerts.

What are Trusted contacts? You can set up a person you trust to get alerts if you get any suspicious messages. They’ll be able to see the content of the message and help you decide what to do next. You can remove a Trusted contact at any time.

How to set up a Trusted contact Your Trusted contact will need to get the Scam Ranger app and give you their activation code. They can find the code in the top right corner of the setting screen. <do we mean ‘Settings’ screen?> After you get their code, go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘Trusted Contacts’ then add them as a contact. Use a nickname for your contact, not the real name of the person. Once you input the code, click ‘Submit’. To complete the setup, your contact will need to accept your request. You can remove a Trusted contact at any time.

How to accept a Trusted contact request Go to ‘Settings’, select ‘Trusted Contacts’ tab and click ‘My Requests’ to see their activation code. Check with your Trusted contact to make sure the code matches. You can remove a Trusted contact at any time.

How to cancel a Trusted contact Go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘My protected users’. Slide the name of the user to the left and click on the ‘red bin icon’ to cancel them.

How to change the nickname of a Trusted contact Go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘My protected users’. Slide the name of the user to the left and click on the ‘pen icon’ to change their nickname.
